Harry Kane Continues Hot Streak as Bayern Munich Cruise Past Cologne

England striker Harry Kane continued his impressive form in the Bundesliga on Friday, scoring the only goal in Bayern Munich’s 1-0 victory over Cologne. With this win, Bayern secured their tenth victory of the season, propelling them to the top of the table temporarily. Following the match, Kane expressed his satisfaction with the goal, stating, “It was one of the easier goals I’ve scored in my career, but I’ll take it.” Since joining Bayern in August, the English captain has now scored 22 goals in all competitions and has netted in each of his last seven games.

Kane’s goal proved to be decisive as Bayern comfortably navigated past struggling Cologne with a controlled performance in the second half.

“Some people might look at the result and think they expected a bit more, but it was a really good performance from us today,” said Kane.

“We controlled the game really well and should have had a few more goals in the first half for sure.

Despite Cologne’s high-pressing approach and occasional attempts to unsettle Bayern, the visitors repeatedly exploited their hosts on the counter-attack and could have been several goals ahead within the first 30 minutes.

Leroy Sane squandered two promising opportunities early in the game before Kane eventually broke the deadlock in the 20th minute.

Following a swift transition from Bayern, Cologne found themselves outnumbered in their box as Sane cut through the middle to set up Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting. Although Chabot blocked Choupo-Moting’s attempt on the line, Kane was there to tap in the rebound.

This goal marked the 30-year-old’s 18th Bundesliga goal of the season, doubling the tally of Cologne’s team total.

Subsequently, Bayern continued to apply pressure as Kane continuously threatened Cologne’s high backline with incisive through balls. Despite their dominance, Bayern struggled to extend their lead in the second half.

Sane missed another good chance, with Marvin Schwaebe denying Kingsley Coman with a sharp save.

Despite Cologne’s valiant defensive efforts in the second half, Bayern failed to secure a more comfortable margin of victory.

Sane’s attempt was blocked by Chabot once again, and Coman’s header struck the crossbar.

With this narrow victory, Bayern surpassed Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table. However, Xabi Alonso’s side will have the opportunity to reclaim the top spot when they face Werder Bremen on Saturday.
