India secures a spot in the finals of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 after an intense semi-final victory against New Zealand. The match, held at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, saw Team India scoring nearly 400 runs in the first innings, with the Kiwis putting up a good chase. The stadium was packed with Indian supporters, and several celebrities including Rajnikanth, Ranbir Kapoor, and international football star David Beckham were in attendance. Cricketer Hardik Pandya, sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained during a match against Bangladesh, was also present to watch the game.

It’s important to note that Pandya had been replaced by Mohammed Shami, who performed remarkably well in the semi-final, taking 7 wickets. This photo of Pandya has sparked numerous memes and jokes online.

Prior to this, a video clip of cricketer Suryakumar Yadav snacking during a World Cup match also gained significant attention. Apart from generating memes and funny GIFs, the video sparked other reactions as well. An X user criticized Yadav on social media, to which Yadav responded with an epic comeback.
