A service of memorial for Varun is being planned for November 16.

A 24-year-old Indian student, Varun Raj Pucha, who was studying at Valparaiso University in the US, has passed away after being stabbed at a fitness centre in the state of Indiana. He was attacked by a 24-year-old assailant, Jordan Andrade, at a public gym on October 29, and the reasons for the attack are still under investigation.
Valparaiso University, where Varun was studying, expressed their condolences and stated that they are in contact with Varun’s family and will continue to provide support during this difficult time. They also mentioned that a service of remembrance and memorial for Varun is being planned on campus for November 16.
The alleged attacker, Jordan Andrade, has been arrested and is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
Varun had been pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science and was expected to return home to Khammam, Telangana, after completing his course next year. His cousin revealed that Varun’s condition did not improve after the incident, as he had limited movement on one side of his body and remained unconscious at a hospital in Fort Wayne before his unfortunate passing.
Varun’s cousin also mentioned that he came to Indiana about a year and a half ago with hopes of obtaining a good education to support his family financially and emotionally. His family and the rest of his relatives are based in India, and the only support in the US was from a few relatives, including Anile Balleboyne.
By Wednesday, the North American Telugu Society had raised USD 90,000 through GoFundMe for Varun’s family.
