A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in Assam was on Sunday arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping a minor home assist.

He has been recognized as Kiran Nath and was posted on the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy in Golaghat district.

The sufferer, 15, alleged that she was repeatedly raped by the senior police official. She stated that Nath had forcibly confined her at his residence and used to torture her with the assistance of his relations.

Her relations lodged a grievance on the Dergaon police station on Saturday, following which a case was registered in opposition to him on Sunday.

Assam Director Normal of Police (DGP) Gyanendra Pratap Singh stated that Nath has been arrested on the premise of proof that has come up in the course of the investigation.

Nath has been arrested underneath part 376 (raping a feminine underneath sixteen years), 506 (prison intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Part 6 of the Safety of Kids from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012.
