Bijnor (UP):

A girl was arrested after she allegedly tried to kill her husband by tying his palms and legs, burning him with cigarettes and strangulating him, police mentioned on Tuesday.

In response to the grievance filed by the sufferer, Mannan Zaidi (35) on the Syohara police station, his spouse, Mehar Jahan combined some intoxicating substance in his milk on the evening of April 29.

A purported CCTV footage of the incident surfaced on-line exhibiting Mehar Jahan smoking subsequent to her husband who was tied to a mattress. She burnt him with a cigarette, sat on his chest and tried to strangulate him.

Based mostly on the grievance, a case was registered in opposition to Jahan beneath sections 307 (try and homicide), 323 (voluntarily inflicting harm), 328 (Administering stupefying drug with intent to trigger harm, and so on.) and 506 (legal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Ms Jahan was subsequently arrested on Sunday, police mentioned.
