Amid outrage over the film ‘Annapoorani’, a case has been registered in opposition to actor Nayanthara, the movie’s director and producers, and Netflix India’s content material head Monika Shergill. The First Info Report, filed by a right-wing outfit in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, alleges that the accused harm non secular sentiments of Hindus, disrespected Lord Ram and promoted ‘Love Jihad’ by means of the film. 

The FIR was filed on the Omti police station by fringe outfit Hindu Sewa Parishad and names seven accused, together with Nayanthara, director Nilesh Krishnaa, producers Jatin Sethi and R Ravindran, and Netflix India’s content material hear Monika Shergill.

The film, which launched in theatres on December 1, started streaming on Netflix on December 29. After a backlash and a number of other police complaints, it has now been pulled from the OTT platform.
