The flooded railway monitor in Tuticorin district

Round 500 passengers on Monday have been caught on the Srivaikuntam railway station within the Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu after heavy rain battered the southern elements of the state.
The station is surrounded by water on all sides and the trains cannot transfer because the tracks are broken.
As a result of soil erosion, the ballast over which railway tracks have been mounted was washed away in Srivaikuntam and iron tracks with solely supporting cement slabs have been seen dangling precariously.
The rescue work has been suspended because the highway to the station has been lower off. The prepare was going from Thiruchendur to Chennai.
“The passengers are protected. The Nationwide Catastrophe Response Pressure (NDRF) is attempting to succeed in the station. Efforts are underway to airdrop meals,” Guhanesan, Chief PRO, Southern Railways, informed NDTV.
Although there may be respite from rain in some areas, launch of surplus water from dams continued, which led to water-logging.
Chief Minister MK Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi searching for his appointment on December 19 to debate rain and the flood scenario in southern elements of the state.
Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi and Tirunelveli are the 4 southern districts hit by the very heavy rainfall.
Kayalpattinam in Tuticorin obtained 95 cm rain in 24 hours.
With River Thamaraparani operating in spate with launch of waters from Papanasam dam, waters have entered properties in a number of low mendacity pockets of Tuticorin and Tirunelveli.
Greater than 7,000 individuals have been evacuated in these 4 districts.
