The government has issued tax refunds during the current fiscal year (Representational)
New Delhi:
The net direct tax collections for the period of April to September 16 have increased by 23.5% to reach ₹8.65 lakh crore ($103.9 billion), according to the Ministry of Finance.
This includes ₹4.16 lakh crore of corporate tax and ₹4.47 lakh crore of personal income tax. However, the statement did not specify the amount of corporate and personal tax collected during the same period last year.
The gross tax collected, before adjusting refunds, was ₹9.87 lakh crore, which is about 18.3% higher than the previous year.
During the current fiscal year that started on April 1, the government has issued tax refunds worth ₹1.22 lakh crore.
