An Israeli strike on southern Lebanon killed a senior Hezbollah commander on Tuesday, the Iran-backed militant group mentioned.

It named the commander as Sami Abdallah, alias Abu Taleb, born in 1969, in an announcement reporting his demise “with nice pleasure and nice honour”.

A Lebanese navy supply mentioned the commander was “a very powerful in Hezbollah to be killed to date because the begin of the conflict” between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza, which has fuelled violence on the Lebanese border.
